Preseason Football Preview
Riverview’s varsity football team is expecting to come out of the gate strong against Bloomingdale High tonight in the preseason game according to Head Football Coach William Mosel.
“We don’t expect any soft starts as the team has been looking good in the pre-season” said Mosel.
The team returns 16 out of 22 starters including: TJ Robinson #5, Barry Wyche III #3, Cameron Lysle #2, Gabe Akewerpo #8, Mike Kelly #10, Logan Zorilla #68, Mathew Goodwin #72, Skyler Spring #54, Elmer Eubanks #20, Ryan Green #33, among the veterans.
Riverview is finally ready to play after a long offseason; Mosel says, “The kids are at the point where they’ve been grinding all summer and they’re ready to play.”
He added that practices and training session have been going well and have been a display of talent on the team. Mosel elaborated on the competition Bloomingdale brings to the table and how it will be interesting to see how the team plans to handle them. He said they have examined what happened at last year’s preseason game against the Bulls and how they plan to not repeat the same mistakes.
As for the game plan for tonight, it’s very simple just “making it all come together,” the coach says. “We’ve got good wide receivers, good running backs, and good quarterbacks,” Mosel adds. He says the team has good chemistry and they all get along, so cooperation shouldn’t be a problem. According to Mosel, they plan to “play fast, fight for every inch, and finish every play.”
Tonight’s game is at Bloomingdale’s Charley Harris Stadium, with a 7:30 kickoff.
