Wrapping Up Swim Season
The Riverview High School swim team is approaching the end of its season after competing in its final meets and Districts. The first of these last few meets was one against King High School at the Temple Terrace YMCA. The girls’ team had a very close win, beating King 75-70. The boys’ team lost 85-69.
Following the King meet, Riverview competed against Lennard High School at Apollo Beach. The boys’ team lost. The girls’ won this meet.
Swim also competed in Districts, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams did not qualify for the regional meet. Although they did not move on, the team did have two events during this meet where the RVHS swimmers were within two seconds of breaking school records.
The girls in the 400 free relay team did place in the top two for that event which allowed them to move on to Regionals. Four people compete in this event because it is a relay event. The four girls who qualified and will be representing RVHS at Regionals are Adrianna Luttrell, Sarah Lorduy, Emmalyn Hill, and Savannah Crone. They will be competing in Regionals Nov. 4.
Boys swim coach Brian Adams says, “I thought Districts went really well. It was a fun atmosphere especially since Riverview was one of the most spirited teams. The team had so much support for each other and it made me really proud as a coach.”
